I think i'm on to something...

I had a thought the other day whilst taking a trip to Abakhan for material for my project. How much easier would life be if you could plug your brain into a computer and print off the images in your head?! Come on think about it... Its GENIUS!!

Like have you ever thought of the perfect outfit to go out in, and you can picture it in your head but just can't find it anywhere and its always hard to explain it to someone and for them to understand your thinking. Well if you could print the images off in your head... hey presto! you have the image there to show what you want.
This idea would be amazing for me as I am a creative person and often find it difficult to take the amazing thoughts and images in my head and create them.

But obviously I think it may be a little difficult to plug a usb into your brain seen as we are humans and not robots :)
Maybe there could be some sort of mind reading gadget created that could save the images it sees in your head and print them out on paper, and of course you would have to be very careful of what you're picturing in your head because picturing your partner naked might not work as well haha!
I definitely think I am on to a great creation here, 'Dragons Den' eat your heart out :) Maybe one day in the future this device will exist and creating will be futuristic and easy.

"Here's Looking at You Kid"

As part of a project at Uni we were asked to look at the work of John Stezaker. We looked at a series of his Hollywood portraits 'Marriage' (shown above) were he spliced together a male and female portraits of classic film stars to create hybrid 'icons'.

Below or examples of my work creating this same image, I also used famous faces to splice together.
Here I used a portrait of Elvis Presley and Megan Fox. I found these images on the internet and think they fit together perfectly .

My Next One I love, I used a portrait of Audrey Hepburn and John Lennon, to me both Legends/Icons in their own right. Have a look and see what you think...

Technicolour Dreams

I cannot wait for summer to roll around and I am absolutely loving Kurt Geiger's Spring/Summer 2011 shoe collection. The bright bold colours are gorgeous and I cannot wait to be able to wear them when the weather warms up a bit. I think I may have to find a way of purchasing these fabulous wedges (shown in pic above) they are just too cute...

Comic Relief

I absolutely LOVE these comic relief tee's designed by Vivienne Westwood. I think she is amazing and love all her work.

I think this is a fab picture of style icon Nicola Roberts. I think she's done really well for herself and like her because i'm a 'Runcorn girl' myself.

I have recently purchased one for myself... all for a great cause :)

Great quote...

"Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening."

'Liverpool's Little Dress'

This is my customised dolls outfit, it was for a competition for the new museum opening by the Albert Dock. For the competition you were asked to design an outfit for doll that represented what you thought the 'Liverpool Look' was. I decided to create a dress for my doll because a vast majority of the girls in Liverpool love to dress up and look gorgeous day in day out. I also wanted to include Liverpool's great culture, history and architecture so I printed several pictures of what I think represents Liverpool onto paper and created my outfit from that. It includes things like the Beatles and penny lane, Liverpool one, Albert Dock, The Liver Building etc. The winning dolls will be exhibited in the museum when it opens :)

Photobooth

This was a small part of a project we had set at uni. We had restyle ourselves to change our identity and take a photo in a photobooth because you have a limited time before the shot is taken. I had great fun doing this with a friend in Liverpool Limestreet Station :)

Montage...

I created these Robot Montages using magazines cut outs.

This is another Montage I created for my Sew What project in the theme of my villain (Hannibal Lecter)

'Sew What'

For this project we had to reconstruct a garment of our choice in theme with our chosen hero or villain. I chose Hannibal Lecter as my villain and used a black shirt to deconstruct. I reconstructed my garment to look like a straight jacket like Lecter wears in the movie. I also taped my models mouth for added effect, I shot my photos in the Anglican Cathedral grounds in Liverpool and on the roof top of our University.

First Blog

New to blogger! :)

As a fashion communication student at Liverpool John Moores University we have recently discussed creating our own blogs to show our work and what inspires us etc. So I thought I would give it a go...

A lil about me....

I have been interested in fashion basically since I was old enough to understand the concept of shopping. I have studied fashion for four years, since finishing secondary school.

I have previously studied and gained qualifications in Fashion. I have a BTEC national diploma in Fashion & Clothing, a ABC diploma in Fashion Retail and I am now studying to gain a Degree in Fashion Communications.

I hope to obtain a career in the Fashion Industry working for a well established Fashion magazine. I love photography and styling and would love a career doing something involving these.
